Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has declared that government will construct six kilometers of new township roads in Yola town as procurement has already commenced and soon contractors will be mobilized to site.
He revealed this when he received stakeholders from Yola South local government who were in the Government House, Yola on a courtesy call to thank him for giving the area key appointments in his administration.
The Governor assured the people that as soon as the earmarked roads are completed, government will construct additional ones in the area as according to him the local government being the state capital is key to his administration and therefore deserves the required attention.
Governor Umaru Fintiri added that the local government will continue to witness unprecedented developmental projects to add to the successes record so far and expressed optimism that before end of his first tenure the area will change for the better.
He advised the people in Yola South to shun rumor mongering, coexist peacefully, and enjoined stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in the area to work together as people of the same party, work without faction and come together and build the party.
The spokesman of the delegation Professor Abubakar Abba Tahir while speaking appealed to Governor Umaru Fintiri to look into the problems facing the local government which include chronic water scarcity and the deplorable condition of roads in the area.
Professor Tahir requested the governor to construct ten township roads in Yola South covering eleven kilometers which include Zumo road, Ladan street, Sarki Aiyuka Bashiru road, Madawaki Bello road and Alkali Hamman Joda road among others.
The spokesman thanked Governor Umaru Fintiri for executing developmental projects in Yola South which include ongoing construction of stadium and restoring ‘Yan Kifi Grazing Reserve to Fulani Pastoralists among others.
In their separate contributions, the member representing Yola South in the State Assembly, Alhaji Kabiru Mijinyawa and Commissioner of Transport Alhaji Musa Mustafa Jika called on the Governor to give the area more attention.
On his part, the Chairman Adamawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Usman Aliyu Marafa saluted Governor Umaru Fintiri for carrying out people’s oriented projects in Yola South and assured him support and loyalty of the people.
