Verification Exercise For PHC Staff Across 11 LGAs Commences In Gombe

In his opening remark, Chairman of the committee, who is the Head of service, Alhaji Bappah Yahaya said, the exercise marks an important milestone in the history of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s administration, being the first time to be conducted with the paramount Health sector.

Alhaji Bappah Yahaya said, the administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has given and demonstrates high commitment in placing the Health sector among top priorities inline with his campaign promises, saying, the vision of the government is to ensure populace have access to effective and quality health care services.

Earlier, the Executive Secretary Gombe State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Abdulrahman Shu’iabu, who is also the secretary of the committee highlight that, the objective of the staff exercise is to serve as an opportunity for the state to authenticate genuine employees on its payroll in order to ensure efficient use of the state resources.

Dr. Abdulrahman observed that, the exercise will also provide the state government with a database for civil servants, which will ensure proper planning, budgeting and training for the entire healthcare workers aside ensuring prudence and accountability in the management of personnel resources.

The staff verification exercise of all Primary Health Care Departments that commence today 29th of June 2020 with staff of Gombe local government is expected to go round all the 11 LGAs in the state which the committee will spend a maximum of two days in each of the LGA.

Procedures for the verification exercise include: Employee to fill out a staff verification form; Present him or herself physically before undergo a biometric capture. Thus, will ascertain all staff information then be migrated to the state human resources database and will pave way for an automated HR database for the civil servants.

Strict rules of observing the preventive strategies for prevention of COVID-19 during the conduct is observed, other measures include use of facemask, sanitizing or watching of hands, practicing of social distancing.

Other members of the committee present during the opening session are: Permanent secretary Civil Service Commission, Mr. Balarabe Poloma, Permanent Secretary SS&Pol, Muhammed A. Umar, The overseeing P.S, LGA service commission, Mohammed Kolo Bajoga; Director Treasury Aminu Yuguda; President NULGE, Bappayo Abdulmunini. Others are, Barr. Abubakar Jungudo ,representing Ministry of Justice; and Co-opt Chairman, Nigerian Medical and Health workers, Yusuf Ash Bello.
