Governor Bala Mohammed Renovates 406 Classrooms, Contstructs New 238 Ones
Bauchi State Governor Abdulkadir Bala Mohammed has constructed about 238 block of classrooms and renovated 406 classrooms in the first year of his administration.
This was contained in a statement by the SA to the governor on New Media, Mr Lawal Muazu, saying, the administration of Senator Bala A. Mohammed has considered restoring the lost glory of educational sector to be among the priority areas.
According to the statement, Reviving educational sector can only be achieved if basic education is developed.
The statement reads in part, “Before the emergence of the present administration in Bauchi State, education sector was at stage of a total collapse.
“To find a lasting solutions to the enormous challenges facing the sector, Governor Bala Mohammed has constructed more than 238 classrooms and renovated 406 same in primary and Junior Secondary Schools with furniture and toilet facilities in less than a year.
“To reduce the number of out of school children and improve enrollment in the state, the State Government has trained 3,386 primary school teachers selected from various public schools to enhance their knowledge and experience.”
It stated further that, In addition to the renovations and constructions of schools, Governor Bala Mohammed has flagged off the disbursement of five hundred thousand Naira to each of the 1320 schools in five Local Government Areas of the state who are the beneficiaries of the 2019 Schools Improvement Project Grants, a World Bank project.
He added that, “The State Government has provided 6.7 hectares of land for the construction of Northeast UBEC Model School in Bauchi in order to fast track the execution of the project.
“With these efforts of the governor towards overcoming the challenges facing the sector, the State Government has secured numerous interventions from critical stakeholders in the sector.
“There has been a great improvement with the inception of the administration of Governor Bala Mohammed in the Basic Education Sub Sector in the area of provision of teaching and learning materials as well as training and retraining of both staff and teachers.
“The State Commissioner for Education, Dr Aliyu Usman Tilde said the ministry of education has introduced a lot of reforms with a view to ensure effective teaching and learning in the schools.”
According to the commissioner, to solve problems, one must find their causes and the best ways of solving them. No one is perfect or has silverbullets in his pocket. Yet, the outcome of our treatment always depends on the proper diagnosis of the ailment and the efficacy of the medicine we give.
In the same vein, the Ministry must live up to the same standard it wants its subordinate officials and teachers to live up to.
Dr. Tilde set the standard in the Ministry knowing very well that teacher-child contact is one of the most important component of education administration.
